RANT: the Captcha

A CAPTCHA (IPA: /ˈkæptʃə/) is a type of challenge-response test used in computing to ensure that the response is not generated by a computer


Argh.. and they are horrible. The ones many web sites use are hard for me to read. And apparently they are hard for others to read so you get tons of do overs on them. With the do overs.... well couldn't a computer guess that way too?

They seem like a waste of time, and they hurt my eyes. Down with them!

  1. I much prefer the ones that ask you to do a simple math test. like 9 +2.
    The blogger ones aren't bad, I hate the ones that have a mottled background and lines going through, and each letter is at a different level.

  2. Sorry there old friend, but they are an unfortunate necessity. Helps prevent the automated evil from doing crap.

    I do find it ironic that you require it for your blog comments when it is an optional feature.
