I is for...

Ivy!

My beautiful second daughter.

She just turned one recently

She was a  month early and only 5 pounds when newborn

... and at 6 months.
Oh, that thing on her face? That looks like a huge blood blister? That's called a Hemangioma, or strawberry mark. Thanks to much internet research and hunting down the proper doctor, it's almost gone now. A recent treatment option was discovered a few years ago, when a doctor realized children treated with Propanolol (a beta blocker) had their hemangiomas shrink  and in some cases disappear. For some children they go away by age 3, but with where that one is I wanted to do what I could in the least invasive way possible.

I never photoshop them out of my images of her, because it is a part of her.  Honesty in photography is important to me.

About 8 months old (helping me with my Halloween costume)

My goofy cutie.

  1. That's gorgeous. My daughter had a small one on her butt, and it's disappeared almost completely now. I was afraid it would grow, but the doc told me not to worry. Your daughter is beautiful - I'm glad you didn't edit anything out!

Lovely photos. Yes, those little spots generally fade away very well. She is absolutely adorable. Ahhh, to have that soft pure skin again, eh?

Hey, maybe by dropping ten grand at Westlake Dermatology, I could!! :)
